Yatun Sastramidjaja

Yatun Sastramidjaja is a Lecturer in the Department of Anthropology at the University of Amsterdam, where sheis part of the programme group ‘Moving Matters’ and teaches courses in Global Youth Studies and Anthropology. Her principal research interests include youth and student activism, youth cultures and citizenship, urban cultures, and heritage and memory cultures in Indonesia and more broadly Southeast Asia in a context of globalization.Currently she is completing two book manuscripts, entitled Playing Politics: Power, Memory, and Agency in the Making of the Indonesian Student Movement (based on her PhD dissertation) and Performance of the Past: Politics and Practices of Heritage in Globalizing Indonesia (based on a subsequent research project at the Erasmus University Rotterdam), and a number of articles on related subjects. She is also preparing a new comparative research project on youth citizenship and multi-mediated dissent in Southeast Asia.
