Bio
Study Sociology and Political Science (cum Laude). Doctorate 1979. Professor Environmental Policy, Open University (1987-2011). Professor Environmental Studies: Policy and Management, Utrecht University 1988-2011. (Co-)Founder social scientific Environmental Studies bachelor program, the master program Sustainable Development track Environmental Policy and Management, and the research program Governance for Sustainable Development at Utrecht University. Founder of the social scientific long distance teaching program in the bachelor and master program Environmental Sciences at the Open University. Visiting professor Yale University; Universidad Nacional, Costa Rica; Indian Institute of Technology-Kanpur; University of Washington; the Royal Institute of Management Bhutan; and RMIT University, Melbourne. Successful supervision of 19 PhD students. Main research: Governance for sustainable development. Main research is on global cross-sector partnerships for sustainable development.
