Ni’matul Khasanah (World Agroforestry Centre – ICRAF, Southeast Asia Regional Programme, Bogor, Indonesia
Trained as a soil scientist and ecological modeler, she has been working for the World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF) Southeast Asia Regional Office based in Bogor, Indonesia since March 2002. Part of her work involves tropical tree cover change, studied mostly in relation to consequences for ecosystem services i.e. changes of carbon stock (CO2 emission – C footprint) and changes of water resources (quality and quantity). Other research is focused on tree-soil-crop interactions and productivity of agroforestry systems under different management scenarios using the Water, Nutrient and Light Capture in Agroforestry System (WaNuLCAS) model. Starting September 2013, she registered as a PhD candidate at Plant Production System group, Plant Science Department, Wageningen University, the Netherland with current research focus on “Oil palm (Elaeis guineensis) production in Indonesia: agronomic options to reduce the carbon footprint and diversify smallholder production systems”
