Dr. Leontine Becking (Wageningen University & Research, The Netherlands
Dr. Becking is an assistant professor in the Marine Animal Ecology group at Wageningen University. She has a long-held interest in tropical marine biodiversity and conservation, particularly in Indonesia. A key question of her research is how communities and populations adapt in response to environmental change due to natural processes as well as human activities. Through collaborative research projects, Dr. Becking takes a multi-facetted approach to biodiversity by applying techniques of population genomics, bioinformatics, environmental analyses, paleontology, and taxonomy. She also worked as a research-consultant at the knowledge institute Wageningen Marine Research where she does research towards Nature policy plans in the Dutch Caribbean.
