Research & Development Director – PT East West Seed Indonesia (EWINDO)

Being a researcher with a noble vision to improve the welfare of farmers is the passion of Asep Harpenas as R & D Director Ewindo. Joined with the company since 1990, the man born in Subang, June 30, 1965 has been more active for the advancement of horticultural seed in Indonesia.

After graduated from Bogor Agricultural University – IPB, Asep started his career as a young researcher continue with various role until he reach the top position at R&D division has been delivered tremendous achievements and some legacy for contributing Indonesia horticulture development. With more than 30 varieties of chili, beans and bitter ground has been commercialized during his service tenure in Ewindo.

Asep is a pioneer in the application of technology CMS for varieties of chili, while other than that he has delivered a major contribution in creating PELITA as Indonesia chili seed export product that generate revenues among countries.

Besides being active in various seminars and symposia R&D at the national as well as regional, Asep also actively participated in various social activities to empower farmers, increasing access to the education mostly for farmers children and improve the welfare of the community surrounding factory EWINDO at Purwakarta district. To build collaboration among key stakeholders while also embrace the company existency, he also initiated some strategic partnership to enable a cooperation involving some research institutes and renowned universities in Indonesia.

EWINDO is the first integrated vegetable seed company in Indonesia which produces vegetable seeds through plant breeding. EWINDO primarily aims for the development of local, cutting-edge seed industry to produce high quality vegetable seeds. In developing seeds, EWINDO uses professionals who are experienced in the area of plant breeding and seed science. Vegetable seeds resulting from research and development are produced, processed, packed and marketed for Indonesian farmers with the brand CAP PANAH MERAH. For almost three decades EWINDO always provides healthy seeds with high genetic purity and good germination in order to achieve good results aligning with the consumers’ wants and to become the key to success for INDONESIAN FARMERS.
