Head of Solid and Hazardous Waste Laboratory.

Laboratory of solid waste was build 1987 in which focuses mainly to solid waste, however due to current issue; the lab focuses not only to solid waste but also includes hazardous waste, thus the name was changed to Laboratory of solid and hazardous waste. The laboratory is one of the other laboratories at the Environmental Engineering Study Program, Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Bandung

The laboratory is one of the other laboratories at the Environmental Engineering Study Program, Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Bandung Institute of Technology. It is the first laboratory that focuses on solid and hazardous waste in the higher education institution. The laboratory collaborates with other laboratories in the Environmental Engineering Study Program to deliver it services, such as Water Quality Laboratory, Environmental Microbiology Laboratory, Hydraulic and Hydrology Laboratory, Air Quality Laboratory, Toxic and Hygiene Industry Laboratory and Environmental Biotechnology Laboratory.

The laboratory focuses on the area of solid and hazardous waste analysis. In the field municipal solid waste, the laboratory provides analysis of various parameters required for planning of MSW management including waste generation and composition and other chemical analysis. The hazardous waste analyzing, especially for industrial waste is accordance to Government Act No 18/1999 with is amended to 85/1999. The lab not only focuses on academic and research purposes but also delivers the service to the community. The consultation services comprise of waste utilization and waste and hazardous waste handling. The waste utilization comprises of the possibility of waste utilization and alternatives utilization as well as the impact of waste utilization. The waste utilization includes almost of solid and hazardous waste system such as storage, collection and transportation, composting, incineration, gasification, reuse, recovery, recycle, solidification and landfilling. The lab also provides characterization of waste, leachate, ash from incineration or burning, sludge and slurry, biogas, hazardous waste and solidification.
