After my formal retirement at UTwente, I stay most of the time in Indonesia. With my wife Andonowati we founded LabMath-Indonesia (LMI) in 2005 as part of the foundation Yayasan AB. Since that time I act as scientific advisor of LMI.
Organizational support and research projects from KNAW-RISTEK (SPIN) in the bi-national collaboration have supported this initiative in the first years.

Most of my research concerned applied-mathematical modelling, exploiting variational structures in fluid dynamics and optics. The past 10 years we have developed HAWASSI software, mainly with (PhD) students from Indonesia and staff at LMI, with financial support of UTwente and NWO, Technical Science Division STW.
