Dr. A.J.F. (Ton) Hoitink (Wageningen University, The Netherlands)

Dr. Ton Hoitink is Associate Professor of Environmental Fluid Mechanics in the Hydrology and Quantitative Water Management Group at Wageningen University. He has been the principal investigator of a large number of hydrographical field campaigns in Indonesia and in The Netherlands, and currently leads the SPIN program Hydrology-geomorphology links in the Kapuas River system, funded by the Royal Dutch Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW).

He is the scientific head of the Kraijenhof van de Leur Laboratory for Water and Sediment Dynamics, where he focusses on physical models of rivers and streams. He frequently acts as an advisor of monitoring programmes by Rijkswaterstaat, which is the executive arm of the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment in The Netherlands. As a university staff member, he lectures introductory and advanced courses in fluid mechanics, for students who specialize in hydraulics, hydrology, meteorology and soil sciences.
